Believe it or not.. I love being a dentist. I can’t imagine being in any other field – a decision I made when I was 14, and never regretted.
I love making teeth look pretty and feel good and I feel very fortunate to be practising now when there are so many options available to do this. I spend a lot of time at dental courses because I want to be the best dentist I can be. I also have the added joy of managing the entire team here at More Smiles .. and some days it is more of a joy than others!!
Seriously though, I feel very fortunate to have so many fabulous people involved with me in the practice. When not at work I spend my time walking my dogs, working out at the gym and reading. The past few years have seen me become a very active member of the Australian Dental Association – a worthwhile pursuit for my profession but one that has taken much of my time.
The future .. One day Hugh Jackman WILL realise I am the woman of his dreams.
I worked in Brisbane after graduating and on my Australian trip, I worked in remote Aboriginal communities in Arnhem Land. Flying in and out in a tiny four seater plane. I joined the More Smiles team when we moved to the Sunshine coast and have never looked back. More Smiles is a fantastic practice with a caring and committed team of people that enjoy a good laugh.
I love that being a dentist gives me the opportunity to help people and care for their oral health. Having lived and worked in many places throughout Australia and for a short time overseas, my family and I have been lucky enough to call the Sunshine Coast home for the last 6 years. I’ve always placed a strong emphasis on providing the best dental care for my patients with a gentle and caring approach. Great dentistry and good oral health are very important and I love that we all work hard to achieve that at More Smiles Through many years of experience as well as regular courses and continuing education I like to keep up to date with all areas of dentistry When I’m not working at More Smiles I’m kept busy enjoying the beautiful Sunshine Coast with my family.
My father was mortified when my far younger self told him I wanted to study dentistry, due to his previous experiences growing up where he aptly named them ‘the butchers of Biloela’. Fortunately, I had a fantastic dentist whilst at school and as a result have always enjoyed my visits.
As a dentist I have been working to encourage, support and gradually help treat those who may have had previous negative experiences, to enable them to have the best possible oral health in the future. I aim to be gentle and caring, and I particularly enjoy working with children.
I have worked in remote communities throughout the Northern Territory as well as many different private practices throughout Australia, finally settling down on the beautiful Sunshine Coast with my young family (and pugs).
